Morecambe 1 - 0 Cheltenham Town

Morecambe 1 - 0 Cheltenham Town
League Two: 21st November 2009

No win in over two months and only the existence of more abysmal teams than Cheltenham keep them out of the relegation zone. Evidently they were the poorer of two poor sides this afternoon going down to a goal from a player allowed to run half the length of the pitch without let or hindrance. Self inflicted harm.

Barnet at home on Tuesday night will be another disappointment; I can feel it in my water. As is the lack of news from the board room where Martin Allen has barricaded himself in with a legal team of heavies and is refusing to budge. The danger is that he has more self-belief than anyone else; and an excess of self-belief is a dangerous quality. Look where it’s taken this team.

Josh Low is the only player who seems to be trying; maybe he’s trying to get a transfer. Otherwise the team lacks a solid centre of experience around which younger players can be developed.

If they survive in the league they will not have earned it.

Cheltenham Town: S Brown; K Haynes, A Gallinagh, D Diallo, J Low; D Bird, M Pook (J Alsop 57), J Labadie; B Marshall, J Richards (D Hutton 75), T Lewis (B Hayles 57). Subs: J Perry, E Hammond, M Watkins, J Quaynor..
Attendance: 1,567 (122 from Cheltenham).
